"Strong Republic": The agreement will not affect Lebanon
Fady Mahouly
The "Strong Republic" bloc and the executive body of the "Lebanese Forces" held an extraordinary meeting headed by Samir Geagea, during which they stressed their adherence to the establishment of an effective state that monopolizes arms and the decisions of war and peace in accordance with the constitution.
The bloc considered that any agreement between Washington and Tehran is a matter for both parties, noting that the ceasefire included in it will not have a practical impact on Lebanon, and that Iran provides “verbal services” to Hezbollah.
The attendees called for an end to the wars by dissolving the illegal organizations, most notably Hezbollah, appreciating the Lebanese government’s decisions in this direction and demanding their immediate implementation.
The statement also held Hezbollah responsible for bringing Lebanon into the conflicts and attracting interventions, affirming its refusal to link Lebanon to the Iranian axis, and calling for support for the negotiating path led by the President of the Republic in cooperation with the Prime Minister to strengthen the state’s sovereignty and confine weapons to its hands.
